Why Use Conditional Required Fields?

This is a simple yet powerful way to ensure you collect the right information from families, based on their responses.

How to Set It Up

  1. Open the Form in Form Editor in your Funnel account.

  2. Find the field you want to make mandatory based on a previous response.

    1. Important: The field being referenced must come before the required field for the logic to work.

  3. Click the field name and look to the right side of the box you should see three vertical dots appear located in the top right corner.

  4. Click on the three dots and select "Make field required based on".

  5. Choose the field that must be answered to trigger the requirement.

    1. Example: "Does the student have any special needs?"

    2. If "Yes" is selected β†’ Make the medical documentation upload field mandatory.

  6. If "No" is selected β†’ The upload field remains optional.

  7. Set the condition using the dropdown options:

    1. "Equal" – The field must match an exact response.

    2. "Is one of" – The field must match one of multiple possible responses.

    3. Select the specific answers that will trigger the requirement.

  8. Click Save Condition (top right corner of the page).

Go to Preview Mode and test your form to confirm the required logic is working as expected before publishing the form.

This process helps schools streamline form submissions while ensuring families provide the necessary details only when relevant.
